Words per minute, commonly abbreviated wpm, is a measure of input or output speed.
For the purpose of typing measurement a word is standardized to five characters or keystrokes, including spaces and punctuation. For example, "I run" counts as one word, and "rhinoceros" and "let's talk" both count as two.
Characters per minute, the speed of a typist; literally means how much characters (including spaces and punctuation) you type per minute. For example, "I'm OK!" counts as 1 or 2 wpm (depends on rounding operation), but it will be always 7 characters when counting CPM speed
